Screening criteria

To ensure that you feel confident in your choice of products, we put them through a rigorous screening process using criteria produced by our Packaging Sustainability team. Working closely with our vendors we cross-check their products to make sure that they meet these standards. If a product does not meet all the below criteria, then it will not make it onto our platform. This way you can trust that any product you end up choosing is a better option for the environment!

Renewable content of the packaging unit is greater than 70%.

The materials of the packaging unit are not sourced from protected and indigenous lands.

All materials in the packaging will likely be reused, recycled or composted in the majority of the EU (i.e. not becoming waste).

Fossil energy in the supply chain is less than 50%, alternatively, fossil energy in the production is less than 5%.

The packaging unit is free from REACH listed chemicals.

Glue or ink used in the packaging unit is removable before recycling or composting.

The working conditions throughout the supply chain are ethical and up to satisfactory levels.

The material weight and volume is minimized while keeping functionality and ensuring safety and hygiene for both product and consumer (EN 13428).

If the packaging unit ends up in nature, it can fully biodegrade without contaminating the environment.
